Sam’s Legacy

The Sam Ford Dance Scholarship honors the life of Sam Ford, who showed incredible courage while battling cancer at a very young age. Sam’s strength, resilience, kindness, and positive spirit continue to inspire those who knew her. This scholarship recognizes young dancers who demonstrate perseverance, determination, and a love for dance.

Application Process

1. Dance Video Submission

• Submit a dance video that is 1–3 minutes long.

• The video should showcase your enthusiasm for dance, effort, creativity, and performance quality.

2. Short Essay

Write a short essay answering the following question:

“What does it mean to be brave, and how has dance helped you overcome challenges or achieve your goals?”

You may include:

• A challenge you have faced in dance, school, or life

• A time when you worked hard to improve or accomplish something

• What dancing means to you

• How you show kindness, encouragement, or perseverance when things get difficult

Application Guidelines

• Please keep your video 3 minutes or less.

• Upload your two-piece submission via this webpage.

• In order to be eligible to apply, all applicants must supply (1) raffle item donated from a local business to qualify.

Evaluation Criteria

• Passion and commitment to dance

• Creativity and expression in the dance video

• Effort, perseverance, and determination

• Thoughtfulness and sincerity in the essay

• Character and kindness
